So, you wanna be a professor?

I’ve always had an obsession with academia and have always imagined myself pursuing a PhD in the future. We all know that PhDs are semi-useless unless you want to be a high level researcher or a lecturer. Coming to this realization (and trying to justify wanting to spend four-plus years of my life in a PhD program), I quickly decided that being a lecturer seemed quite amazing. When I was half-way done with my MSc program, I began investigating PhD programs around Europe and the US with the hopes of beginning one by Fall 2012 at the latest. Whilst searching for more funded programs this morning, I ran across this YouTube video that absolutely cracked me up. Granted, I don’t want a PhD in the Humanities, but I’m sure this can be extended to a number of (or all) academic arenas. Plus, the fact that this girl wants to be a college professor? Makes me think twice!

Happy studying,
