We went last summer and we’re going again next year to tie the knot, but first: Anguilla this August! Naturally, as I’m looking out into temperamental San Francisco skies, I can’t help but be out-of-this-world excited about some sun and sand in a couple of weeks.
I don’t know that Caribbean getaways can ever get old. Sunshine-y goodness aside, I’m looking forward to trying out some new restaurants. Almost every place we tried last year was exceptional, but with so many restaurants on the island, I’m hoping we can try at least a few that didn’t make the cut during the last go-around.
On my radar: Barrel Stay, Mango’s, Koal Keel, and Sandbar. I remember food on the island being (infamously) expensive, but I just had a pretty intense wake-up call looking at the menus this time around. (To think of $28 – $40+ for entrees as ‘normal’ boggles my mind). Of course, we’ll have to check out some tried and true favorites. Boat Shoes lived in Anguilla for about a year, so he’s pretty familiar with the restaurants and the lay of the land. His favorite restaurant (possibly in the world), Picante, is in Anguilla and will definitely be on our go-to list again. Probably twice. Their prices are reasonable and I’ve been known to dream of their chili-queso corn on the cob.
In other Anguilla-related news, I have started a pinboard associated with our wedding website, covering Anguilla To-Dos and a visual packing list. Naturally, this is targeted to our guests, but if there are others that would be interested, do check it out here.
xoxo from the US,

Shannon-
I talked to Mama Kircher the other day and it turns out I am on your flight from Charlotte to St. Maarten!!! I am so excited for this year. Doug has been in Greece all summer and being home in Granite Bay without him is awful! Thankfully we got Anguilla in a month!!! See you in Charlotte!!
