Saturday at Smokey’s & Sandbar

At Smokey's.

It was lunchtime when we finally woke up on Saturday. After a long flight and a long night on Friday, sleep was much-needed to be full-functioning humans on Saturday. We started the day by having lunch at Straw Hat at the Frangipani (the tuna banh mi is to die for… delish).

The view from lunch. :)

After lunch, we loaded up and headed to Smokey’s to hang out on the beach and listen to the Musical Brothers play (another one of the bands we’re considering for the wedding). If a storm had been in the area when we arrived, it was definitely on its way out by Saturday. The skies were slightly overcast during parts of the day, but the majority of the afternoon was sunshine-y and relaxing.

We left Smokey’s and headed back to our home base at the Frangipani during the late afternoon and got cleaned up to head to dinner at Sandbar. When we were in Anguilla last year, Sandbar was a relatively new restaurant on the island and with so many places to see, we didn’t get a chance to pop in. Being a big fan of tapas, however, I made sure that it was on our agenda for this year. It was also sort of on our agenda wedding-wise as a potential spot for a cocktail party. It was the restaurant’s last day open before closing for the season and the service reflected that a bit. The food was great, mind you, but the service left a lot to be desired.

After Sandbar we made a quick stop at Elvis’ Beach Bar for a quick round and then made our way back home to call it a night.

Check back soon to see some amazing pictures of our trip to Scilly Cay on Sunday. Such an incredible experience and maybe one of the coolest places that I’ve seen. Ever. The food & drinks are really just icing — albeit delicious icing — on the cake.

xoxo from the islands,
