Sunday marked our last day in Vegas. After a long night on Saturday, it was past 10AM when we finally woke up. With our flight not leaving until 7PM, we decided to take the the time to grab a quite bite, explore a few hotels that we hadn’t yet seen and slurp up a few more frozen drinks in the sunshine.
We made our first stop at Payard Patisserie for a quickie breakfast at Caesar’s. After splurging on dining during our first few days, we decided to make Sunday a low-key, recovery day. After fueling, we hit up Numb for a frozen cocktail (the Mango Kush is too good to pass up) and then made our way to the Mirage.
I actually really like the Mirage — it seems very fresh and open. I think the interior is pretty awesome and they actually have a fair amount of dining options, both casual and upscale. More importantly, they have a froyo shop and a place called Rhumbar, their version of Numb.
After exploring and having a quick conversation about how ridiculous it is that there’s a Kardashian Khaos store in the Mirage (I mean, really… a shirt that says ‘KARDASHIAN’ on it? If your name doesn’t happen to be Kardashian, why would you wear that?), we made our way to the Palazzo. By this time, our Rhumbar cocktails were gone, but we survived the trek.
We had hit early afternoon by this point and decided to collect our things and head to the airport by 5PM or so. We spent our remaining time in Vegas playing video poker (a must!) and grabbing a quickie souvenir at the Wynn.
After returning to the Trump, we grabbed our belongings, changed into airplane attire and jumped in a cab to McCarran. It was a sad drive, watching the Strip fade in the rearview mirror. At that moment, driving away from Vegas, I felt like a kid driving away from Disneyland; sad to see the fairytale world slip out of sight. (LV is definitely the grown up version of Disneyland, with smaller outfits and stronger drinks.) Luckily, my friend, J., is having her Bachelorette party in Vegas next year! Anxiously awaiting 2013…
xoxo from SF,
