‘It still hasn’t hit me.’

We’re sitting at Gate B11, waiting for our flight from Sacramento to New York (and eventually on to St. Martin). All I can think is, ‘it still hasn’t hit me.‘ It hasn’t. We’re waiting for our flight and it still hasn’t sunk in that we’re even going to Anguilla in general, much less moving there.

My parents joined us to say their goodbyes at the airport, which started out cheerfully and then ended up a bit tearful. Goodbyes are always hard, but there’s a bit of comfort in knowing we’ll be back in April. Plus, we’re looking forward to our families joining us on the island in June and July for our wedding festivities.

By tomorrow at 5PM, we’ll be in St. Maarten, and probably en route to Anguilla. Our bags are loaded to the brim; 4 bags at 50 pounds each, loaded with our lives. We’re off to begin our new adventure and though it hasn’t fully sunk in yet, I couldn’t be more ready to kick off this next chapter. I should probably be more nervous considering how foreign the environment is for me, but I’m not apprehensive in the slightest. More than anything, I’m ready to embark on a new journey, experience new places and build an exciting life together in the Caribbean.

Stay tuned for the adventures!

xoxo from the airport,

Good Luck Shannon, you are starting on a whole new adventure. You are lucky to have Peter and Anne Parles right there, they are wonderful people and will be a big help to you. Your property is so special, it is loved by all, Jan has done a wonderful job and I am sure you will too.
    Safe travels
